View from a Cocoon

Since my London residency last summer, I’ve been in my cocoon writing and making new things. I took some time off social media; read lots, wrote in my journal lots, did lots of The Artist’s Way (again); did lots of dance, yoga, walking; worked on banishing the patriarchy from the inside out: basically it was a dreamy cocoon. And I wrote a lot of songs.

I’m looking forward to slowly re-entering the world of humans, and sharing the songs with you, in 2018, starting with a few appearances at shows in London + Canterbury in the next couple of weeks.

On Tuesday January 30th I’ll be on the bill for the Karousel + SESAC showcase at Paper Dressed Vintage in Hackney, along with some other great artists. It’s going to be a brilliant night. I’ll be showcasing some new songs, and I’d love to have lots of you there. Tickets are only £5 in advance, get there here

Then on Thursday 1st Feb I’m playing at my first 13% Presents night also in East London.  It’s a night that celebrates gender equality in arts + music, so I couldn’t be happier to be involved. Did you know that only 13% of songwriters registered on PRS are women? It’s gonna be an amazing night of music and poetry, hope to see you there. Details here…

Then on Sunday 4th Feb, I’m playing a set at Luke Jackson’s gig in Canterbury. He was supposed to be touring with Amy Wadge, who has been taken ill, so I’m very happy to step in and be part of his special album launch show. It’s at The Gulbenkian in Canterbury. Tickets here

I’m going to continue making little videos for Facebook too, covers and some of my own music…starting tomorrow when I’ve (hopefully) totally recovered from this nasty flu, which no amount of reading or writing, sadly, can banish…

Love,

Maz x
